Welcome to Robert Edward Starr's Personal Website!
This website is a virtual space I use to catalog various events and interests in my life. To facilitate this I maintain two blogs as well as two photo galleries. My general personal blog, The Liechtensteinian Wonder, is a catch-all for various odds and ends from my life; including anecdotes, videos, quotes, etc. that I find interesting or funny and hope that others will as well. It is the second version of my first blog, started in October 2008 and called by the same name, that was hosted on the Tumblr platform before this website was created. The second blog, Great Scot[land]!, was specifically setup to document my year abroad as a graduate student in Edinburgh, Scotland on a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarship. The photography page is the portal to my experiences and experiments behind a camera, which usually closely tie into posts on either blog. The blogs and the photography section can be accessed from the links above.
A question you might be asking is who is Robert Edward Starr? The content on this site gives a good indication of who I am, but a short synopsis: Robert Edward Starr is LiechsWonder - Christian. College Student. Computer Scientist. Delta Tau Delta Member. Orientation Assistant. Music Connoisseur. Cyclist. Photographer. Disneyland Fanatic. Fish. Highly Unusual. In all things.
A related question I sometimes get is where does the interest in Liechtenstein stem from and what led to the adopting of LiechsWonder as my avatar and virtual persona. The simple answer is that I discovered the small country of Liechtenstein, land-locked between Switzerland and Austria, during a World Geography course during my freshman year in high school and became fascinated with it. At the same time I was looking for a unique avatar to use in the various computer games I played in high school to set myself apart from the myriad of other players. that no one else had used before in the games I played. I went through various iterations of an avatar based on the name 'Liechtenstein' before eventually adopting 'The_Liechtensteinian_Wonder'. However, that name is far too long, so it was eventually shortened to the current and final form used today; 'LiechsWonder'. It was the uniqueness of the name that drove my initial adoption of the avatar, but it was the unique qualities of Liechtenstein is as a nation that led to permanent adoption of an avatar based on the name.
I think that is enough of an introduction to who I am and where this site stems from. Feel free to browse the blogs and my photography albums and leave any comments or questions you feel are appropriate. Thank you for visiting and please enjoy your stay!
